Ex 20.10 You work for a software company that has developed a system that provides information about consumers and that is used within a SoS by a number of other retail businesses. They pay you for the services used. Discuss the ethics of changing the system interfaces without notice to coerce users into paying higher charges. Consider this question from the point of view of the company’s employees, customers, and shareholders.
It is unethical to change the interfaces to coerce the clients into paying higher charges without notifying the clients that these changes are coming in the future. Doing this could cause the current clients to look for another service. Some shareholders would welcome this because they would be able to make a quick buck and the sell there shares. This could end up hurting the employees because the shares worth could nose dive once a lot of consumers have left and many companies give their employees shares as bonuses.
